Child Safe Protection Curriculum – Guest Speaker
St Mark’s is a child-safe organisation with a commitment to the prevention, identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect.
St Mark’s students are taught the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS: CPC). The KS: CPC is an evidence-based, best-practice, respectful relationships, and child safety curriculum developed collaboratively with child protection specialists, teachers, educational leaders, and other professionals. It covers a range of concepts to support children and young people in responding to contemporary issues.
Throughout the year, our school staff teach this program through Health Education classes and, in part, via the Flourish program. We aim to ensure approved and effective abuse prevention programs are delivered to all children and young people in Western Australian schools per the Registration Standards for Non-Government Schools.
To complement classroom teaching, St Mark’s has invited Kayelene Kerr from eSafeKids to deliver a session to our Year 8 students on Monday, 12 May 2025 and Year 7 students on Monday, 26 May 2025. Year 6 students will participate in a session provided by WA Child Safety Services on Monday, 4 August 2025. You will find various resources on the eSafeKids website that support curriculum delivery.
Our Middle School students will also participate in sessions throughout Terms 2 and 3 regarding online safety and digital well-being. The ySafe and eSafety websites offer a range of resources to support these sessions.
