Why St Mark's?

Welcome to St Mark's, a school that offers an exceptional educational experience for your child. With a coeducational environment, we provide a balanced and inclusive community where all students thrive together. With K-12 continuity, your child can grow and develop in a familiar and supportive environment.

We have four sub-schools; ELC (Years K-1); Junior School (Years 2-5); Middle School (Years 6-8); and Senior School (Years 9-12). This means that our students work and play in areas of the school where the maximum age difference is 4 years, unlike the historic model of having 8 years between K-6 in Primary School, and 6 years between youngest and oldest students in High School (Y7-12).

With smaller sub-schools, we are able to design and tailor educational activities and resources along with play equipment more aptly for cohorts. Our students feel a greater sense of comfort and safety being surrounded by students closer to their age.

Our intake years are accordingly Kindergarten, Year 2 and Year 4 (Primary School) and then Year 6 (Middle School). If opportunities arise, we take students in alternate years but this is a rare occurrence due to waiting lists for each year group.

Our commitment to academic excellence is upheld by passionate teachers who go above and beyond to inspire and nurture each student. At St Mark's, your child will have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities, allowing them to try new things and explore their interests.

Our strong community spirit ensures every student feels valued and supported. With student-designed facilities and innovative academic programs, we offer a unique and engaging learning environment. As an affordable independent school, we provide a high-quality education without compromising on value.

At St Mark's, we believe that we are large enough for students to be able to 'find their tribe', but small enough for them to feel they matter. We hope you will join our community soon!

Coeducational Environment

At St Mark's, we believe that coeducation has many benefits. Our students learn to work together and appreciate different perspectives, which is essential for their future success. We value preparing our students for the real world, and that means helping them develop the confidence to work and interact with all people, regardless of gender, age, profession, culture, or socioeconomic status.

In a coeducational setting, students learn to collaborate and achieve goals with peers regardless of their orientations. This helps them develop social skills, open-mindedness, teamwork, resilience, and grit. It also allows them to break down gender stereotypes and biases and promotes equality and fairness. Providing a well-rounded education in a coeducational environment prepares students for the real world and gives them the skills they need to succeed in life.

Academic Excellence

St Mark's Anglican Community School is proud of its longstanding reputation for academic excellence, achieved through a rigorous recruitment process to find the most experienced and passionate teachers who are experts in their fields. We believe that our teachers are the backbone of our success, and we invest in their professional development to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest pedagogical practices.

In 2021, St Mark's Year 12 ATAR students achieved an average ATAR score of 90.85 which meant a ranking of 8th on the WA Better Education School Rankings listing. St Mark's consistently places in the Top 50 schools in WA.

At St Mark's, we value opportunities for all and are committed to helping our students find their ideal career path, whether it be academic, entrepreneurial, or vocational and trade pathways. We believe that every student has unique talents and interests, and we provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore their passions and achieve their goals.

Passionate and Dedicated Teachers

At our School, we are proud of our exceptional teachers who play a crucial role in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for our students. Highly qualified experts in their respective fields, they each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their classrooms. Our intensive recruitment process ensures we find the best, most dedicated, passionate, experienced, positive, and professional people.

Our teaching staff place great emphasis on student-centred learning experiences, where they take the time to understand the interests, needs and strengths of each child and tailor their teaching methods accordingly. They are caring, compassionate, adaptive, and go above and beyond to create a warm and welcoming learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.

Our teachers are always exploring innovative ways to enhance the learning experience. They are committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares our students for their future careers and encourages lifelong learning.

We are proud of the exceptional teachers we have at our School, and we are committed to supporting them in their professional growth and development. We provide staff with opportunities to attend professional development sessions, collaborate with their peers, and continuously improve their teaching knowledge and skills.

Extra-Curricular Activities - Find Your Tribe

Our commitment to providing a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs sets us apart. We believe that student learning should extend beyond the classroom, and we encourage the exploration of potential interests and passions. We provide opportunities for students to step out of their comfort zone and to challenge and extend themselves in new areas. In this way, we build their confidence through new life experiences and self-awareness, which is important for mental health and social connections.

Inclusive Community Spirit

At St Mark's, we pride ourselves on having a strong sense of community for students and their families. This inclusive community spirit is fostered with the coeducational setting, combined with family involvement in school life through volunteer and connection opportunities.

We believe that every student should feel valued and respected, regardless of their background, gender, culture, socioeconomic status, age or abilities. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential.

We encourage families to get involved in school activities through a range of service opportunities. This involvement fosters a sense of pride in our school, sets an example through role-modelling to our students and helps to create a connected school community that benefits everyone.

Student Designed Facilities

The St Mark's campus and facilities were designed with the physical, emotional, and social development stages of our students in mind, as well as their academic needs. Deep thought and considered research was conducted as part of the architectural design process to ensure sub-schools were built to maximise the student experience.

Buildings and facilities are continuously updated and improved according to school planning considerations. At St Mark's, we are proud to provide our students with the best possible facilities to support their growth and development throughout their educational journey with us.

Affordable Independent School

At St Mark's Anglican Community School, we are proud to offer an affordable independent school option for families in the northern coastal corridor of Perth. Our founders had a vision of creating a low-cost private school that would be accessible to all families, and we have continued to uphold this commitment over the years.

Our commitment to affordability through low fees is reflected with our ongoing efforts to keep our operational costs low, without compromising on the quality of education provided. This allows us to offer great value to families by delivering a wide range of programs and services that enrich the student experience, state-of-the-art facilities, and highly qualified teaching staff without the unrealistic price tag.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to receive a quality education, regardless of their financial background. At St Mark's, we are dedicated to providing a quality education that is both accessible and affordable, so that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We also offer academic scholarships to help make our school accessible to more families.

Innovative Academic Programs

St Mark's Anglican Community School is committed to delivering innovative academic programs that prepare our students for the future. Our teachers use contemporary and research-based teaching methodology to ensure our students receive a world-class education. We believe in offering students a diverse range of academic programs that challenge them to think critically and creatively, develop resilience and independence, and ultimately achieve their full potential in the real world.

Our teachers tailor the curriculum according to individual student interests and learning needs. Our students have access to a range of specialist programs, such as the Academic Extension Program that is offered according to the student area of talent. Involvement in community programs, incursions and excursions, and competitions to further enhance learning is commonplace at St Mark's.

We offer unique and specialist subjects such as Marine and Maritime Studies and Outdoor Education, which allow our students to explore their passions and interests while developing important skills for the future. Our Outdoor Education department has qualified as a finalist three years running within the WA Outdoor Recreation Sector Awards and we won the Innovative Outdoor Program Award in 2020. We are constantly looking for ways to improve and innovate our academic programs, ensuring that our students receive an education that is relevant, engaging, challenging, and inspiring.

K-12 Continuity

St Mark's Anglican Community School is a K-12 school that offers a unique educational experience for students. One of the main benefits of a K-12 school is the continuity it provides for students. Students are able to stay within the same school for their entire educational journey, which allows them to build strong relationships with their teachers, peers, and the school community. This familiarity with the school environment can help to create a sense of belonging, an enhanced support system and in turn, confidence and social connections.

Additionally, a K-12 school like St Mark's provides a comprehensive education where students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities throughout the years. St Mark's is committed to providing a holistic education that prepares students for success in both their schooling life and beyond the classroom.

Large Enough To 'Find Your Tribe', Small Enough To Matter

At St Mark's, we believe that our school's size is just right - large enough to provide diverse opportunities and a sense of community, but small enough to ensure that every student is valued and supported.

With over 1,800 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our school is large enough for students to 'find their tribe' and form meaningful connections with peers who share similar interests and passions. Our students develop a greater sense of belonging amongst their tribe, and with this grow as individuals to achieve academic excellence and other life goals.

At the same time, we maintain a close-knit community where every student is known and valued. Our class sizes and teacher ratios ensure our students receive individual attention from teaching staff, allowing for tailored and personalised learning experiences. With a supportive environment, our students can feel confident in themselves and their abilities, and we pride ourselves on providing an atmosphere where each student can thrive.

As Goldilocks would say - the size of St Mark's is 'just right' - large enough to enjoy an array of opportunities and to find your tribe but small enough to feel you matter.
