Enrol My Child

St Mark’s Anglican Community School has an open enrolment policy and welcomes expressions of interest from all families who wish to enrol their child in our school.

The main intake years are Kindergarten, Year 2 and Year 4 (Primary School) and Year 6 (Middle School).

Opportunities outside our key intake years do arise and families who wish to enrol their child(ren) in these years are encouraged to submit an expression of interest.

All expressions of interest are placed into a waiting pool and prospective families will be invited to apply for a place at the school if a vacancy becomes available.

St Mark’s experiences high demand for places, and whilst every effort is made to assist, an invitation to interview and the subsequent offer of a place can not be guaranteed.

Expressions of Interest require a non-refundable fee of $50 per student.

Enrolment Policy

Our Enrolment process embraces the diversity of our community, and we welcome all Expressions of Interest. Parents seeking a place for their child at St Mark's are required to submit an Expression of Interest, which incurs a non-refundable application fee of $50.

Among the factors taken into account when assessing applications, in no particular order, are:

  • whether the applicant has siblings already attending the School;
  • children of parents who indicate a willingness to support the Anglican and community ethos of the School;
  • whether they are children of clergy;
  • if they are children of participating members of the St Mark’s Old Scholars’ Association;
  • if they are children of regular church-attending families;
  • whether the children live in the local community;
  • the date of application;
  • individual family circumstances;
  • the outcome of the interview process.

In all cases, the School Principal makes the final decision as to whether an offer of enrolment is made. The Principal retains the discretion to offer places to ensure an academic and coeducational balance is maintained across the whole School.

Not an Australian resident? St Mark's does offer opportunities for international students through Anglican Schools Commission International (ASCI). Find out more here.

Enrolment Process

Expression of Interest

St Mark’s welcomes expressions of interest from prospective families at any time. Students are placed into a waiting pool and invitations for application will be sent to families who meet the enrolment criteria two years prior to the students commencement date at the school.

Expressions of interest for non-key intake years are dealt with on a case by case basis and invitations to apply will be extended if a place is available in that particular year group.

During the time that prospective students are in the waiting pool, families can expect to receive regular communications from the school including an annual request to update your details, newsletters and invitations to major school events.

School Tours

St Mark’s hosts termly School tours targeted at specific key intake years. The families of students in the waiting pool will be invited to register for a tour prior to registrations being open to the public.

Only students who have attended a School tour will be eligible to receive an invitation to submit an application for enrolment for a place at St Mark’s.

Invitation to Submit an Application

Students in the waiting pool will receive an invitation to apply for enrolment two years prior to their commencement date at the school. Applications will be open for 4 weeks. Once the application date closes, all applications will be assessed and students will be invited to an interview based on their eligibility for a place according to the St Mark’s enrolment criteria and the number of places available.

Subsequent invitations to interview will be released as places become available.

Students who do not receive an invitation to an interview will be returned to the waiting pool and receive an invitation to apply at the next key entry point.

Interview

A formal interview with the relevant Head of Sub-School is an opportunity for you to get to know us and for the Head of Sub-School to learn more about you and your child’s needs and educational aspirations.

Following the interview, a letter of offer is extended to families where suitable places are available.

Acceptance of Place

Your child is formally accepted into St Mark’s Anglican Community School. You will be required to complete all the formal documentation, sign the enrolment agreements, and pay the enrolment fee.

As commencement nears, your child will be invited to attend an orientation event to meet with teachers and fellow students.

Parental Participation

At St Mark's, our bond with parents and friends is what sets us apart! For years, our St Mark's Parents and Friends' Association has been the heartbeat of our community, tirelessly supporting the school's growth and nurturing a strong sense of community.

We believe in the power of teamwork and involvement. That's why we've created the Community Participation Program, fondly known as 'Parent Commitment Hours,' under the caring guidance of the St Mark's Parents and Friends' Association.

When you join our St Mark's family, you're not just enrolling your child — you're becoming a vital part of our mission to achieve spiritual and educational excellence. Your active participation isn't just welcomed; it's essential. We ask each family to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per year to volunteering within our vibrant community.

The opportunities to contribute are endless! Whether you're lending a hand at school-based events or providing practical support directly to the school, every moment you give enriches our collective experience.

We've made it easy for you to track your contributions. Just log your hours through our convenient online system here. And while we cherish your time and effort, we understand life gets busy. If, for any reason, you're unable to meet the volunteer commitment, there's a nominal fee of $330, which helps us sustain the invaluable programs and initiatives powered by our dedicated community.

School Tours

The focus of the tours is to showcase some key facilities and a snapshot of day-to-day life on campus. Tours generally focus on one of three areas within our campus:

  • Early Learning Centre (Kindy, Pre Primary and Year 1)
  • Primary School (Years 2 to 5)
  • Middle School (Years 6 to 8) and Senior School (Years 9 to 12) combined tour.

We generally run one tour per term. Click the link above to see the dates available.

Please note that attending a school tour will not guarantee enrolment at St Mark’s. Following a School Tour, parents are invited to apply for enrolment at our School.

It is important for prospective parents to be aware that St Mark’s experiences high demand for places and whilst every effort is made to assist, an offer of a place cannot be guaranteed. If this is the case, your child will be placed on our waiting list.
