Booklists and Subject Selection Handbooks

The choice of elective subjects should be given significant consideration, as these subjects provide a great deal of value in areas such as life skills, intellectual development, academic enrichment, practical skill development, creativity, innovation, and leisure-related activities, as well as worthwhile and fulfilling pathways within and beyond secondary education.

When selecting subjects, students are encouraged to show self-awareness and to consider the following;

  • Personal future goals
  • Interests
  • Abilities
  • Requirements of each pathway (ATAR, UniReady, General or VET): organisation, study and time commitments required
  • Parents’ thoughts and advice
  • Teachers’ advice and recommendations
