Hey Year 12s — we’ve got your back as you plan what’s next!
Small Group Careers workshops will be running in Week 1 of Term 4, so swing by for a chat, some support, and some helpful tips for your future.
Three different work shops are available.
Get started preparing for work with Resume writing, cover letters and and where and how you can start the job searching adventure. Students will also discover some of the gap year opportunities.
This workshop is designed to guide students through the process of applying to university via TISC (Tertiary Institutions Service Centre). Students will learn how to navigate the TISC website, understand key dates and deadlines, choose preferences wisely, and avoid common application mistakes. The session will also cover early offers, offer rounds, and tips for making informed decisions about courses and institutions.
This workshop supports students interested in applying for full-time TAFE courses. It covers how to explore available courses with different training providers, to understand entry requirements, complete the online application process, and prepare supporting documents. Students will also get tips on choosing the right course, meeting deadlines, and accessing further support if needed. Semester 1 TAFE applications close 31 October 2025.
This workshop is designed to help students explore apprenticeship and traineeship pathways. It covers how to find opportunities, understand entry requirements, apply through relevant platforms, and prepare for interviews. Students will also learn about employer expectations, training organisations, and how to access support services during their training journey.

Thursday 2 October | Psychology, Law, Engineering: The Moot Court simulation will offer participants an immersive experience into legal proceedings and ignite interests in legal careers.
Friday 3 October | Medical and Health Sciences: This is a hands-on day where students will be engaging in a Microscope Hair session (bring in your pet hair), Nutrition workshop making smoothies and an interactive Sport Science exercise session to add a dynamic element to the day.

Short courses and skill sets give you the training you need and an opportunity to develop your skills ready for work. These are available for Year 11 and 12 students only.
Skill sets give you specific workplace skills and are made up of one or more units of competency linking to an industry need or requirement, like a license. Upon completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment, and in some cases, this may give you credit towards a higher qualification.

Careers in the Defence Industry are all civilian roles - joining the industry does not mean joining the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
There are 21 occupations currently are in-demand and will be required to sustain current and upcoming defence projects in Western Australia. The Australian Government requires everyone undertaking nationally recognised training qualifications to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). It is now extended to all students commencing higher education from 1 January 2021 and is mandatory for students graduating in 2023 or later to receive an award.
If you're at university, TAFE or doing other nationally recognised training, you need a USI. You need one to get Commonwealth financial assistance, your qualification or statement of attainment.
This includes school students enrolling in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification as part of their school program or applying to university through the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre1 (TISC).
