From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Students in the Middle and Senior Schools have enjoyed the first two weeks of Term 2 as a transition to the winter uniform, given the warmer weather we are still experiencing in May. That transition period ends today, 9 May. Primary School students have not had a transition in the first two weeks.
Warm weather is still forecast for much of next week, but School photos are scheduled for next week and require students to wear their winter uniform. School leaders will apply their judgment if the weather on any day warrants a tweak in the uniform, e.g. students may be given permission to remove their blazer and/or tie during the day, depending on the temperature. The full uniform should still be worn to school each day. Girls can choose to wear stockings or socks, so they may adjust their choice depending on the forecast temperature for each day.
Parents and guardians are reminded of the Years 7-9 Parent Teacher Meetings on the afternoon/evening of Tuesday, 20 May. All parents and guardians of Secondary School students (Years 6-12) are reminded of the early closure on that day, at 1.00pm. Families will need to make alternative arrangements for their Secondary School children going home early on that day.
At our St Mark’s Day gathering this morning, I announced the new Nyungar names for five important places/spaces on our School campus. The names, and the story behind them, are shared on our website HERE. I ask all of our community to learn the names and use them correctly as a mark of respect to Nyungar people who lived for many thousands of years on the land on which St Mark’s now stands.
Yours sincerely,
Steven Davies
Principal
