Up, Up and Away with the WA Police Air Wing!

During Week 4, St Mark’s students were treated to a very exciting visit from the WA Police Air Wing, with students from Junior School and parts of Secondary School enjoying the unique opportunity to meet members of the specialist police team, and get up close to one very impressive helicopter!

Adding to the excitement was the return of St Mark’s Old Scholar Stuart (Class of 2004), who is now part of the WA Police Force. Stuart enjoyed reconnecting with some familiar faces, including teachers, fellow former students, extended family members and the wonderful Mrs McKibbin, who taught him back in Year 1. It was a lovely full-circle moment and a fantastic example for students of where a St Mark’s education can lead.

Throughout the visit, students asked plenty of thoughtful, and occasionally hilarious, questions, including a few important enquiries about police donuts! They also learned about careers in policing, the different pathways into the force, and what day-to-day life is like working with the Police Air Wing.

Students were also given the chance to explore the state-of-the-art police helicopter and vehicle, with many eager to snap a photo beside the aircraft.

A huge thank you to Stuart and the entire WA Police Air Wing team for taking the time to visit St Mark’s and provide such an engaging, inspiring and memorable experience for our students.
