Staff Announcement – Mr Ivan McLean

Dear St Mark's families,

St Mark's Anglican Community School is the foundation school of the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC). Earlier this year, the very significant position of Chief Operating Officer of the ASC became vacant following the resignation of the incumbent, Mr Mike Giles, and the ASC has conducted a recruitment process over the past couple of months.

Mr Ivan McLean will be the ASC's new Chief Operating Officer, commencing in June this year. Ivan is currently St Mark's Acting Head of Teaching and Learning and is our substantive Head of Middle School.

Ivan came to us at the beginning of 2022 as a very experienced Head of School / Senior Leader. He has long experience at various independent schools, including Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, and most recently was the Head of Secondary School at the Australian International School Malaysia. Ivan's experience and expertise were immediately evident to us, and he assumed his role at the helm of our Middle School with assurance, maintaining the confidence of our community.

We are, of course, very sorry to be losing Ivan from St Mark's but also grateful that his experience and expertise will still be available to us in his new role in the ASC. Ivan will stay with us at St Mark's until the end of Week 6 in Term 2 this year.

I will appoint an Acting Head of Teaching and Learning from the beginning of Week 7, Term 2, until the end of this year. An open process will be put in place during Term 2 to appoint a substantive Head of Middle School.

Ivan's appointment continues a trend at St Mark's in recent years whereby our experienced and high-performing staff have been sought out by other organisations for their significant roles, and we are proud to be developing great leaders here at St Mark's and helping them in their professional growth.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating Ivan and sending our best wishes from the St Mark's community.

Yours sincerely,

Steven Davies
