Rugby is Back!

The St Mark’s Rugby Squad began their campaign last week in The Western Force Cup. The Rugby WA-run Western Force Cup in 2022 is leveraging off the success of The Northern Schools Rugby Championship that had been organised and implemented by like-minded rugby schools in the northern corridor over the past ten years. The Western Force Cup seeks to promote the growth and participation of rugby in schools and foster partnerships between schools, educational intuitions, and local clubs. The competition is run over three areas; north, central and south, and will culminate in a combined final Wednesday, 21 September.

St Mark’s are fielding teams in each of the following divisions:

  • Year 11/12 Boys
  • Year 9/10 Boys
  • Year 6/7/8 Boys
  • Year 9/10/11/12 Girls
  • Year 6/7/8 Girls

The first round of fixtures saw the boys’ divisions competing against LJBC and the girls battling against Ellenbrook Senior High School. Each game provided many positives and demonstrated sound learning and development from our early pre-season training commencing in Term 2. Although the weather did not allow for dynamic rugby, our St Mark’s teams excelled and played strongly in our first hit-out for the year.

Results for Round 1:

  • Year 11/12 Boys draw with Lake Joondalup Baptist College
  • Year 9/10 Boys win over Lake Joondalup Baptist College
  • Year 6/7/8 Boys loss to Lake Joondalup Baptist College
  • Year 9/10/11/12 Girls win over Ellenbrook Senior High School
  • Year 6/7/8 Girls win over Ellenbrook Senior High School

All fixtures take place Wednesday afternoons (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) at Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club and will continue through weeks 3 - 7.
