Tell us about your business – what do you do and what inspired you to start it?
I am the Founder and Creative Director of Vicky Rahmic Weddings & Events, Modern Romance Proposals and Vicky Rahmic Travel, creating luxury proposals, weddings, events, destination celebrations, honeymoons and private experiences across Australia and internationally. When it came to choosing a career path, there was never a single direction that I fit into. I was drawn to management, accounting, strategy and business, while equally connected to design, art and creativity. Event planning and design became the space where all of those elements came together. At the time, there wasn’t a clear pathway into the industry, so I found my way back to it later, trusted that instinct and built my own path. No two days are ever the same, which is exactly what makes it so rewarding.
Can you share a key moment or breakthrough that helped shape your journey?
I’ve had a few defining moments, but one that truly shaped my journey was surviving a hit-and-run accident. The driver fled the scene, and in the aftermath, I found myself questioning everything, whether I should continue in the events industry or pursue something entirely different, like nursing, to help others in a more direct way. That same week, someone else lost their life in a similar accident, which made the experience even more confronting. For a long time, I questioned why I survived while another didn't, and it was time to find my purpose. What I came to realise was that what I create truly matters. Celebrations are moments when people come together with those who mean the most to them, and those moments become memories cherished for a lifetime. It’s those celebratory moments that people remember. That understanding gave me clarity that this is my purpose. It reshaped not only my business but also the way I lead, create, and show up every day. I feel incredibly honoured to be part of my clients’ stories and the moments that matter most to them.
What sets your business apart from others in your industry?
What sets us apart is a globally led, full-service approach that brings proposals, weddings, travel and private celebrations together, creating an elevated experience that is rare in the industry and in Perth.
What’s one piece of advice that’s really stuck with you throughout your business journey?
There will always be moments when you feel like walking away and giving up, but remember that it is consistency that carries you through. Nothing worthwhile will come easy. I often think that if I am lucky enough to reach 90 or 100 years old and reflect on my life, I would rather know that I gave it my everything and remember the struggles than wonder, “What if I pushed a little more?” Failure is part of the experience. When doors are closed, it means another is waiting for you to find it and at the end of it all, it is the journey that you celebrate and look back on, not just the outcome.
