Marnjamoortup Festival Celebrates 40 Years of St Mark’s Community
On Friday 6 March, St Mark’s Anglican Community School proudly hosted the Marnjamoortup Festival, a joyful celebration marking four decades of faith, learning and community.
Welcoming approximately 380 guests to campus, the evening brought together past, present and future members of the St Mark’s family for an occasion that honoured the school’s rich history while looking ahead with excitement.
The school grounds came alive as current and prospective parents and carers, alumni, current and ex staff and friends gathered in celebration. The festival’s name, Marnjamoortup, reflects a spirit of community, one of the values that has shaped our School since its founding in 1986.
Music played a vibrant role throughout the evening, showcasing the extraordinary talent nurtured within the school. The Verve Vocal Ensemble delighted guests with their rich harmonies, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the celebration. The Year 12 Rock Bands brought energy and enthusiasm to the stage, while the Jazz Band provided a sophisticated soundtrack as guests mingled and enjoyed the festivities. Each performance was a powerful reminder of the creativity, confidence and spirit that flourish at St Mark’s.
The evening was further enriched by heartfelt reflections from special guests and leaders. A highlight was the address from Founding Principal, Mrs Barbara Godwin OAM, whose words offered a moving tribute to the school’s journey over the past 40 years. Speaking with deep pride and gratitude, Mrs Godwin reflected on the vision that established St Mark’s and the enduring impact of an education grounded in faith, service and community.
Beyond the formal program, the Marnjamoortup Festival was, above all, a celebration of connection. Guests enjoyed delicious food, lively conversation and the chance to reconnect with old friends while welcoming new members into the St Mark’s community. Laughter, stories and shared memories filled the evening, capturing the unique sense of belonging that defines the school.
As St Mark’s celebrates its 40th anniversary, the Marnjamoortup Festival stands as a powerful reflection of the community that has grown around the school. It was not only an opportunity to honour four decades of growth and achievement, but also a moment to look forward with confidence to the future.
With such a strong and united community, the next chapter of St Mark’s promises to be just as inspiring as the first.
