Living Our Shared Values
As part of AngliSchools, St Mark's Anglican Community School is proud to be part of a network of schools united by a common purpose, vision and set of values. Earlier this year, AngliSchools introduced its Strategy 2030 framework, centred on the theme "A Fire Within, A Light for Others", a reminder that our schools are called not only to inspire excellence within individuals, but also to encourage service, compassion and positive contribution to the wider community.
At the heart of the Strategy are four values that guide the work of all AngliSchools schools: Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence.
These values are already deeply embedded in the life of St Mark's. They reflect who we are as a school community and provide a shared language that connects us with fellow Anglican schools across Western Australia.
Faith
Faith is about living our Anglican identity and teaching Gospel values through our words, actions and relationships.
At St Mark's, faith is expressed through our commitment to nurturing the whole person – spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally. It encourages us to approach each day with compassion, integrity, hope and a sense of purpose. Whether through Chapel services, classroom discussions, service opportunities or everyday interactions, faith continues to shape our culture and community.
Inclusion
Inclusion is about promoting diversity, celebrating difference and welcoming all.
As a K–12 community, St Mark's is strengthened by the unique experiences, backgrounds, talents and perspectives that each individual brings. Inclusion reminds us that everyone belongs and that every person has value. It challenges us to create environments where people feel safe, respected, supported and able to contribute fully. By embracing diversity and fostering genuine connection, we build a stronger and more compassionate community.
Respect
Respect means compassionately respecting ourselves, others and our world.
Respect underpins the relationships that form the foundation of our School community. It is reflected in the way we listen, communicate, collaborate and care for one another. Respect extends beyond our interactions with people to include stewardship of our environment and appreciation for the wider community of which we are a part. It encourages empathy, kindness and a sense of responsibility for the impact our actions have on others.
Excellence
Excellence means pursuing high personal standards in all endeavours.
Excellence is not simply about achievement; it is about striving to do our best, embracing challenges and continually seeking growth. At St Mark's, we encourage students and staff alike to be curious learners, resilient problem-solvers and thoughtful contributors. Excellence can be seen in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the performing arts, through service initiatives and in the many ways our community members challenge themselves to reach their potential.
Bringing the Values to Life
Values are most meaningful when they move beyond words and are reflected in everyday actions. Across St Mark's, these principles are already visible in countless ways – through acts of service, academic endeavour, inclusive practices, respectful relationships and our shared commitment to supporting one another.
As we continue to align with the Anglican Schools Commission Strategy 2030, these values provide a clear foundation for the future. They help guide decision-making, shape our culture and remind us of the kind of community we aspire to be.
Together, by embracing Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence, we strengthen the fire within ourselves and become a light for others.
