Honouring Dedication

St Mark’s is proud to celebrate a special milestone for one of our much-loved community members. Our dedicated school crossing warden, Peter Prestige, who has been helping to keep our families safe on Endeavour Road for the past 10 years, has recently been awarded the WA Police Force COVID-19 Response Service Medal.

This special medal recognises the outstanding service of eligible sworn officers and police staff — including school crossing wardens — for their commitment and contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a heartfelt acknowledgement of the essential role they played in supporting the community through an unprecedented time.

The design of the medal is rich with symbolism. It features a world map with Western Australia highlighted, reflecting both the global nature of the pandemic and WA’s Emergency Response. The ribbon is equally meaningful:

  • Black and Yellow represent our State colours

  • Blue signifies the WA Police Force

  • White stands for Sacrifice and Service

  • Green symbolises Unity and Health

For a decade now, Peter has greeted students and families with a smile, rain or shine, all while making safety the number one priority. Even implementing some additional safety pavement markers for our own crossing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, that role took on a whole new level of responsibility — helping maintain order and reassurance during a time of uncertainty.

We are incredibly grateful for his commitment, warmth and community spirit, and we’re thrilled to see him recognised in such a meaningful way.

Congratulations, Peter, and thank you for keeping our St Mark’s community safe — and for doing it with such kindness every single day.
