French Adventure in Nice – A Trip to Remember

This year’s French language tour to Nice was nothing short of unforgettable. Our students stayed in a French boarding school, immersing themselves fully in local life—though they quickly discovered that “local life” during a heatwave meant no air conditioning! It was, without a doubt, the toughest challenge of the trip, but they rose to it with resilience and good humour.

Each morning began with French classes alongside peers from across Europe, including new friends from Serbia, Spain, Italy, and Greece. Afternoons and evenings were packed with cultural discoveries—exploring beautiful medieval villages, wandering the charming streets of Nice’s Old Town by day and night, visiting glamorous Monaco, and enjoying daily swims in the warm, clear waters of the Mediterranean. The pebble beaches were a novelty for our Australian students, who embraced the change from sand.

Food was another highlight. From delicate pastries and colourful lollies to gourmet sandwiches and adventurous dishes like steak tartare, our students embraced French cuisine. Some even tried live oysters for the first time! However, no one was quite brave enough to sample the rabbit leg that Mr Andrews ordered at our final dinner in a small traditional restaurant specialising in Niçois dishes.

The trip was filled with laughter, friendship, and new experiences. Our students returned home with improved language skills, a deeper appreciation for French culture, and fond memories that will last a lifetime.
