Cooking Up Kindness
Over the weekend of April 5th and 6th, the St Mark’s community once again demonstrated its remarkable spirit of service and compassion. Students and parents joined forces for our special meal preparation initiative, cooking an incredible 360 meals for the Salvation Army’s outreach programs.
This effort brought together students working towards their IGNITE Awards and parents contributing their Parent Commitment Hours, all united by a shared goal: to support those in need within our wider community. The meals were dropped off at the school and collected by the Salvation Army on Monday, April 7th, ready for distribution to some of Perth’s most vulnerable individuals and families.
Lee-Anne from the Salvation Army expressed her heartfelt gratitude, sharing that she was truly overwhelmed by the continued generosity shown by St Mark’s. The meals will be distributed across several vital programs:
- Street to Home Program: Helping people transition from homelessness to their first secure accommodation, offering not just shelter but a fresh start and vital support as they settle into independent living.
- Independent Community Living Program: Supporting individuals with mental health challenges as they move into their own homes, providing stability and a sense of belonging.
- Safe Night Space for Women: Run by Ruah Community Services, this program offers a safe haven for women experiencing homelessness or crisis.
A huge thank you to all students and parents who contributed their time, skills, and compassion to this initiative. Your efforts have made a real difference, embodying St Mark’s values of empathy, service, and community spirit.
