CAS Report - Term 1, Round 5

CAS Round 5 v St James' Anglican School

St James' is a relatively new addition to CAS. As a growing school in the northern corridor, they only enter Volleyball teams in the Seniors' field teams across all of the Junior competitions. It was a longer bus trip for some of the students, but some say that is one of the highlights (slightly more fun when you win).

SENIOR CAS

Year 10-12 Volleyball Boys Result: LOSS 0 sets – 2 sets (22-25, 10-25)

The boys played an energetic and fired-up St James'. Our boys fought strongly in the first set leading early but were overrun by the opposition late in the set. This, unfortunately, gave St James' momentum that our team could not wrestle back.

Year 10-12 Volleyball Girls Result: WIN 2-0 2 sets – 0 (25-20, 25-19)

The girls had a strong performance all around. St James' had a well-structured team which was not easy to counter. Ashlyn, Nadia and Mila played strongly in a close battle. With two games to go, this team looks likely to finish on top!

Year 10-12 Touch Rugby Girls Result: No game

Year 10-12 Basketball Girls Result: No game

Year 10-12 Basketball Boys Result: No game

JUNIOR CAS

Year 7-9 Cricket Result: WIN St Marks = 1/60, St James' = 3/59

Solid batting and fielding helped the team to restrict St James' to a moderate total. Calm heads in our batting order highlighted with only the loss of one wicket. Jackson and Joshua had figures of 1/5, and Jason Fowler got 11 runs. Great effort from all.

Year 7-9 Touch Rugby Girls Result: WIN 7-1

The girls played with a depleted team as some of their stars were out. This provided the team with an opportunity to step up. And step up, they did with a strong performance against talented opposition. Mackenzie, Matilda and Holly were awesome throughout the game, defending strongly and then attacking when the opportunity presented. Great win!

Year 7 Basketball Girls Result: WIN 42-7

The girls controlled this game from start to finish. Imani, Gemma and Bella scored at will and defended strongly. This group all work well together communicating on the court, which is great to see. Still undefeated, they have two more games to possibly clinch the title.

Year 8 Basketball Girls Result: LOSS 6-46

Short some players, the girls threw everything at a solid St James' team. Olivia, Hannah and Chloe never stopped trying, but unfortunately, the girls could not prevent St James' from scoring.

Year 9 Basketball Girls Result: WIN 70-4

After a stinging loss last week, our super team bounced back with vengeance. The girls started strongly and were too experienced for an energetic St James'. All girls contributed to a percentage-boosting win.

Year 7 Basketball Boys Result: WIN 30-28

The boys had their first win, and what a win it was! All the boys’ efforts in the early rounds paid off. This may be the tonic required to finish off their season on a high.

Year 8 Basketball Boys Result: LOSS 38-47

The boys had a great defensive game which kept the opposition at 47 points. Unfortunately, their issues on the offensive end meant a narrow loss. Tyson, Lenny and Jack were leading the way. A first-up win is around the corner, but we are loving the effort of this group in a quality competition.

Year 9 Basketball Boys Result: WIN 48-38

The boys came up against an energetic team away at St James'. A vocal supporter group was against our boys, but they stayed focused and did not let this one slip. Tristan again was leading from the front with his boundless energy! Well done, boys!
