A Positive Influence

St Mark’s Anglican Community School is excited to announce that one of our team is included in ‘Australia’s Most Influential Educators’ list for 2022.

Our very own Dr Deborah Netolicky, Head of Teaching and Learning, is one of 50 educators chosen from across Australia and one of five from Western Australia. This is a wonderful recognition of Deborah and her work at St Mark’s and in the wider educational community.

The Educator began the hunt 18 months ago for the influential professionals who have had the strongest impact in creating a reformative teaching and learning culture. A place on this top 50 list is a clear affirmation of a candidate’s work whose initiatives have meaningful outcomes for teachers, students and the education system.

In her work as the Head of Teaching and Learning at St Mark’s, Deborah has led many initiatives, including our gold standard Distance Learning Plan, best practice Staff Development Suite, and exciting Future Ready Curriculum courses.

Beyond St Mark’s, Deborah writes about education in books, journals, and online, presenting to national and global audiences and producing a podcast. She is additionally an Honorary Research Associate at Murdoch University, Chair of the Karrinyup Primary School Board, peer reviewer for education journals, and member of national and international education advisory committees and networks. Her recent awards include the 2021 ACEL WA Certificate of Excellence in Educational Leadership, the 2021 AERA Educational Change SIG Emerging Scholar Award, and the 2021 Michael Fullan Emerging Scholar Award.

Deborah commented, “Those of us in education do what we do because we care deeply about students and want to have a positive influence on our communities and on education more broadly. We have learned that schools are more than places of learning. They are sites of community, relationships, society, values, and care.”

Congratulations to Deborah for achieving this outstanding accolade!
