ELC Bulletin - Term 2, Week 1

Dear Parents

St Mark’s Day is fast approaching, and this year’s celebration promises to be particularly special as we mark 40 years of our school community.

On Friday 1 May, the day will begin with a whole school Communion Service. This will be a meaningful time for reflection and gratitude, and an opportunity for us to come together as a community. During the service, we will also farewell Mr Steven Davies and give thanks for his contribution to our school. In addition, we will celebrate Reverend Mark Davis as he is commissioned by Archbishop Kay - an important and memorable moment in the life of our school.

Following the service the ELC (PP and Yr 1) children will head to the Secondary Oval to compete in a House Cross-Country Event. This will be a fun event where the children are encouraged to participate and do their best. Following the cross country event ELC Students will take part in a variety of activities designed to celebrate what it is St Mark's student. As part of this, students are asked to bring in a $5 donation to support Anglicare WA’s Street Connect, a mobile youth homelessness service.

St Mark’s Day is always a highlight of the school year, and this year - celebrating our 40th birthday - will be especially memorable. We look forward to a joyful day of connection, celebration, and community spirit.

• FIRST DAY OF TERM 2 – Tuesday 21 April
  Kindy Turtles will commence on Wednesday 22 April
  
• ELC CHAPEL – Wednesdays 1.30pm, in the Chapel
  ELC students will attend Chapel once a week on most Wednesdays during the School term.
  Parents are welcome to attend if they wish to.
  
• ANZAC DAY SERVICE PP-Y5 – Thursday 23 April
  Pre-Primary and Year 1 students will attend with the Junior School
  
• ST MARK’S DAY CELEBRATION – Friday 1 May
  Pre-Primary and Year 1 students will participate in a Cross Country Carnival time TBC. They will need to wear their House shirts on this day.
• SCHOOL PHOTOS – 4-6 May
  Kindy Starfish on Monday 4 May
  Pre-Primary and Year 1 on Tuesday 5 May
  Kindy Turtles on Wednesday 6 May
  
• ELC MOTHERS/OTHER SPECIAL PERSON CELEBRATION – Wednesday 6 May 9-10.30
  ELC Mothers/Other Special Person invited to attend the festivities. Kindy Starfish also invited.
  
• KINDERGARTEN HEALTH ASSESSMENTS BY COMMUNITY NURSE – 2-26 June
  Completed forms were received from parents in Term 1 – thank you. The Community Nurse will be in the ELC from Weeks 7 to 10.
  
• ELC HOUSE ACTIVITY DAY – Thursday 25 June
  Pre-Primary and Year 1 students will participate in various activities in their House groups. They will need to wear their House shirts on this day.
  
• LAST DAY OF TERM 2 – Friday 26 June
  Students will finish at their normal time on this day.
• FIRST DAY OF TERM 3 – Tuesday 21 July
  Kindy Turtles will commence on Thursday 23 July

The beginning of Term 2 means students are required to wear the winter uniform.

Junior School

• GIRLS - Long socks are optional: If long socks are not worn, students may wear blue ankle socks instead.
• BOYS - Long socks are optional: If long socks are not worn, students may wear grey ankle socks instead.
• BOYS - Formal elasticated shorts as worn in summer may be worn, OR the older winter style can still be worn for Terms 2 & 3.

Early Learning Centre

School tracksuit may be added to the summer uniform on cooler days (children should wear their ELC shorts and shirts underneath). Please make sure all items that come to school are clearly named as track tops and bottoms are often removed if children get too warm.

All Students

• Hats are compulsory all year round and must be worn when in the sun. “No hat, play in the shade.”
• Ensure uniforms are neat and comply with school uniform standards. School uniform standards and further dress codes regarding shoes, hair, makeup and jewellery are available on pages 14 and 15 of the Uniform Handbook.

ON PHOTO DAY:
• Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform, with hair neat and tidy
• Preferably no large side/high ponytails

SIBLING PHOTOS:
• Students must present to the photo area either before or after school
• Students cannot be collected from class
• Please place an order using your eldest child‘s details

The St Mark's Parents and Friends' Association (P&F) invites staff, parents, and students to submit project proposals for 2025 funding. Projects should positively impact the school community, align with school values, and not cover regular classroom resources.

Please see the attached letter and application form for details.

Proposals will be reviewed over the December holidays, with potential meetings for further discussion.

St Mark’s is proud to present the 2026 Music Certificate Showcase featuring our Year 11 and 12 Certificate bands.

Calling all Old Scholars who have children currently attending St Mark's ...

We will hold our annual Old Scholar Generations photo on Tuesday 5 May 2026, at 7.45am. If you and your child/ren would like to be included in our Old Scholar Generations Photo, please book your spot by clicking the link at the bottom.

We will be hosting a light breakfast catch-up in the SAC Staffroom from 7.00am - 7.45am.

Please note that students will be required to wear formal winter uniforms.
