Early Learning

Discover & Inquire

Curriculum

The Early Learning Team aims to foster an environment that honours the development of the ‘whole child.’ Discovery through play and inquiry-based learning in an intentional, nurturing environment, are at the core of the teaching and learning. The physical, social and emotional development of the children is regarded as of utmost importance. Cognitive abilities are recognised to develop best with strong physical and social and emotional foundations. A purposeful, developmentally appropriate approach to literacy and numeracy is used consistently across the Early Learning years.

Overarching early learning is the ‘Early Years Learning Framework’. Through this framework, we aim to put children’s learning at the center of all that we do. This framework guides our pedagogy, practice and curriculum decision making. The WA Kindergarten Guidelines and the Australian Curriculum are identified as programs and practices used within this Framework.

Our knowledgeable and nurturing teachers are well supported by passionate and motivated education assistants. The children have access to specialist teachers for CAVE (Christian and Values Education), Library, Music, Physical Education and World Languages (French and Mandarin).

Facilities

The Early Learning Centre is a self-contained facility with its own Kindergarten, Pre-Primary and Year One classrooms, reception, learning spaces and amenities. Space, time and resources are intentionally organised, both inside and outside, to maximise the opportunities for the children to move and discover, using all of their senses. There is a focus on reusing materials, an open grassed area, a nature play playground, dramatic play areas, creative art provocations and materials, edible gardens, a pond, an open flexible space called an ‘Imaginarium’, a wellbeing space called ‘The Book Nook’ and multipurpose rooms for learning enrichment. A drive-through facility is available for quick and easy drop-offs and pick-ups.
