On Friday 16 August, St Mark’s was taken back to medieval times as our Year 8 students participated in the annual Medieval Day. This year, the day had a great cross curricular feel, being opened with some medieval song and dance performed by the Secondary Choir and our Year 10 Dance class. Our Year 10 Dancers then helped our Year 8s learn a number of dances. Congratulations to Moyes House for winning the Medieval Dance competition!
By far, the highlight of the day was our Medieval Marketplace. As part of their assessment for Humanities and Social Sciences, students were required to construct and run a historically accurate stall. The students rose to the challenge by creating bakeries, medicinal apothecaries, ale houses, as well as jousting and activity stalls. The Year 10 Music students provided some live entertainment in the Market, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Thank you also to the Photo and Digital Design students for taking photos on the day.
