A Showcase for Western Australian artists
Now in its 33rd year, the Annual Art Exhibition is a highlight on the social and cultural calendar of St Mark’s Anglican Community School in Hillarys. The event, which takes place from 5 to 7 October, brings together professional and amateur artists to showcase Western Australian talent across a variety of mediums.
The feature artist for this year’s Exhibition is Stacey Garner. Stacey is a self-taught contemporary abstract artist from Perth, and is passionate about her work:
"Growing up, I’ve always enjoyed the creative aspect of any project or job that I’ve worked on, I love being able lose myself in something that I'm passionate about. I’ve experimented with a number of different mediums but was immediately drawn to alcohol inks because of the way they interact with one another and how no two pieces are ever the same. “
Stacey also works with resin and loves seeing the depth that's created when combined with the alcohol inks.
“This medium has taught me patience and that sometimes, as hard as it can be, we have to let go of the idea of what we think 'perfect' is in order to create something beautiful."
The Exhibition opens with a ticketed event at 6.30pm on Friday 5 October, with live music, gourmet food and wine, raffles and prizes, along with the option to purchase artworks from the catalogue ahead of the open days on 6 and 7 October. The catalogue includes works from Stacey, as well as pieces from other established artists. Works include paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewellery and more. Book your ticket online today.
The Exhibition is open to the public on Saturday 6 October (10am to 5pm) and on Sunday 7 October (10am to 4pm). Entry is by way of gold coin donation.
