Advice from the Chief Health Officer - 4 February 2022

Distance Learning

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2022 it may be that, at different times, children may need to learn from home for a time. To ensure that children staying home are supported to continue their learning, teachers will throughout the year communicate work done in class via the class’s usual channels (SEQTA, Teams, OneNote, Seesaw). Communication is likely to be streamlined and succinct (a distilled version of what is covered in class). In the case of student absence during the pandemic, teachers will apply a flexible and empathetic approach to assessments. They will use their professional judgement to, where appropriate, adjust or postpone assessments according to student circumstances. While it seems unlikely that there will be a need for wholesale remote learning in 2022, our K-5 and 6-12 Distance Learning Plans outline how we will maintain students’ learning, should the school be required to close.
